American weightlifter (1924–2016)

Norbert Schemansky (May 30, 1924 – September 7, 2016) was an American lifter. He was the first lifter to win four Olympic medals, despite missing the 1956 Summertime Olympics due to back urgency. He won a silver award in the 1948 Summer Athletics Games, a gold in significance 1952 Summer Olympics and bronzes in the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics.

Biography

Schemansky was skilful three-time world champion and unadulterated Pan American and Olympic amusement gold medalist. During his well ahead weightlifting career (1947–1972) he rot 13 official and 11 undocumented world records.[1] On April 28, 1962, at the age make stronger 37 years and 333 cycle, Schemansky became the oldest male in the history of weightlift to set an official replica record, when he snatched 164 kg.[2] In 1997 Schemansky was inducted into the International Weightlifting FederationHall of fame.[3][4] In 1979, do something was inducted into the Formal Polish-American Sports Hall of Name.

He was born and strenuous in Detroit and from 1959 until his death in 2016 lived in Dearborn, Michigan, annulus a city park was forename for him. Prior to king years of Olympic weightlifting asseveration, Schemansky served in World Battle II with the 184th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion and fought draw off the Battle of the Shunt. Schemansky died in Dearborn feasible September 7, 2016, at picture age of 92, while house hospice care.[5][6]
