Renoir enjoyed capturing the play of summertime light over the shingle fibril as much as depicting callow ladies in leisure pursuits. Vigorously sketched out en plein air, honourableness scene depicts Julie Manet (daughter of Berthe Morisot and Eug�ne Manet), sitting beside her relative, Paulette Gobillard, while bathers cavort in the sea behind them...
